In 2021, with the world still struggling to emerge from the Covid emergency, John travelled to the heart of the Italian economy—the provinces of Milan, Monza-Brianza, Pavia, and Lodi—to discover how businesses were responding to the emergency. The result was four short documentaries, commissioned by the employers’ organisation Assolombarda, that give a compelling insight into the dynamism, creativity and diversity of Italy’s small- and medium-sized firms.
